Curtain Raiser : International Day of Yoga 2016

The Embassy of India, Tokyo organized "Curtain Raiser: International Day of Yoga 2016" on 9 June 2016 at the VCC Auditorium in the run up to the 2nd International Day of Yoga(IDY) celebrations in Japan.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of India, H.E. Mr. Sujan Chinoy addressed the gathering which included members of the media, along with yoga organizations in Japan and a number of yoga enthusiasts. A special T-shirt with the IDY logo was unveiled by the Ambassador, Mr. Tetsuya Kimura, Director General of Japan Sports Agency, Mr. Shizuo Suzuki, Representative Director of Maharishi Institute of Total Education Japan, Ms. Akiko Kato, 1st runner up of Miss World Japan 2015, and Mr. Amitava Gosh, Vice President and Head-North Asia, Tech Mahindra Ltd. Maharishi Institute of Total Education Japan and Tech Mahindra Ltd Japan are sponsoring the IDY T-shirts for the Embassy's 2nd IDY event on 19th June 2016 at Taimei Elementary School, Ginza.

The programme of the curtain raiser included a short video on the IDY, a presentation on the events lined up for the 2nd IDY celebrations in different parts of Japan and yoga demonstration by Japanese students taking yoga lessons at the Embassy.
