Contribution by the ladies of the Embassy of India, Tokyo for construction of toilets for the women of Badaun village in Uttar Pradesh.

The ladies of Embassy of Indiacontribute their spare time for charitable activities every year.  As part of this effort, they participated in a bazaar organized by the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) in April 2014 at Hotel ANA Intercontinental in Tokyo.From the amount raised by their efforts through the ALFS bazaar, the ladies of Embassy of India contributed an amount of Rs.4.68 lakhs to Sulabh International Social Service Organization for the construction of eleven toilets for women in Badaun village which had reported the death of two young girls who were forced to use fields in the absence of regular sanitation facilities in their homes.

Sulabh International has completed construction and sent us pictures of the newly constructed toilets. Some of these pictures are enclosed. Also ladies of the Indian Embassy along with Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, who was an active participant in this project, can be seen.
