              As per Memorandum of Cooperation between India and Japan for implementation of MAHSR project, human resource development for operation, maintenance and management of the high speed rail corridors will be undertaken in the form of study program in Japan. Accordingly, MoR officials are pursuing 2-year M. Tech degree or Research program in the field of Railway Technology from various Universities in Japan by a competitive selection through MEXT. Research and development in relevant fields of Railway technology has been undertaken by leveraging the technical capabilities so as to contribute to rail transportation through innovative & cost-effective solutions.

              In order to leverage skill development and training for capacity-building at every level, ensure adequate availability of well-trained, highly motivated human resource, and for effective transfer of technology, training of Ministry of Railways and NHSRCL officials is an integral part of the cooperation.

              An interactive web-session on Railway Research was organized in July’2020 with active participation by researchers, academicians, engineers and government officials from both India and Japan. Next session will focus on the practical application of the research findings. The subjects considered by the researchers are as following:

  • Study of Crack Closure Effect in High Strength Steel (HSS) During Fatigue Loading
  • Initiation and propagation behaviors of internal fatigue crack in high strength steel
  • Study of Atmospheric Induced Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) of Friction Stir Welded (FSW) Aluminium Alloy
  • Fatigue Life Estimation for Low Alloy Steel under Torsional Fretting Fatigue using Acoustic Emission (AE) Analysis
  • Safety Evaluation Using STAMP & FTA (Fault Tree Analysis)
  • Experimental and Numerical simulation of longitudinal forces in Railway Bridges
  • Non-contact AE Measurement During Tensile Testing of CFRP using Electret Sensors
